Gidgee fingerboard with binding and 12" radius
For the Thruster 348 prototype I'm using a new wood that i've never used for a fingerboard before... It's Gidgee, Acacia Cambageii, an Australian Hardwood that's extremely hard and dense... with a specific gravity from 1.25-1.35 it 's denser than almost all ebonies and rosewoods. It's been remarkably stable and so fine grained that when it's brought to a polish it is unbelievably smooth to the touch... Oh yeah and it's incredibly slick looking... It looks slick with the Tasmanian Blackwood (acacia melanoxylon) neck... I'm debating what headstock veneer to pair with these woods, it's between gaboon ebony or a really nice piece of burl tasmanian myrtle... if anyone has any suggestions let me know... More to come... trendsetters take note!

The prototype for the new model design is coming along... I am very happy to say that so far it is impressing even more than expected... How can a guitar that isn't even complete do that you ask? New Model in the Works...
I've been designing a new model with a radically different body style than the Straight Six or the Kemp. The blueprint drawings will be posted soon. I'd really like to hear any input that anyone has about the body shape pickup selection, or anything about it. So far it is more in the school of ... well i'll let you decide, pictures coming soon but in the mean time here's a few pictures of the prototype in the works... enjoy... Jonny
